Mission Statement
The Office of Academic Personnel is a dedicated team of professionals committed to supporting UCSB's outstanding faculty and academic appointees throughout their professional journeys, from recruitment to retirement. We oversee key processes associated with academic employment, such as appointment, advancement, and leaves, ensuring fairness and consistency across departments and the campus. With expertise in policy development, analysis, and interpretation, we collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders—including the Office of the President, Chancellor, Provost, Colleges, Departments, and academic employees—to implement academic personnel policies, and provide training and resources that empower campus-wide understanding and compliance.
